Are you ready to smith and sip?
Learn the art of cuttlefish casting while enjoying a tasty grazing plater and refreshments of tea, soft drink or wine (no booze before using fire though!)
In this workshop we will shaping a ring, pendant or earring design into natural cuttlefish bone to create a mould. Molten metal will then be poured into the relief to create a metal copy of your design. Your piece will be filed and finished for you to take home on the day.
Cuttlefish carving is a dusty process! Please don't wear your Sunday best.
We use solid sterling silver to create your design, which is included in your ticket price. Heavier pieces may incur extra charges. Gold is available at extra cost, or you're welcome to melt down your own unwanted pieces of jewellery if you choose. Please be aware that metal types, colours and carats will need to be alike if you wish to recycle your old pieces and extra charges may apply for the processing of your metals. Please contact me ahead of the workshop if you'd like to take advantage of this option so we can discuss the processes needed to make your metal usable
NB: this workshop and is suitable for people of all creative skill levels.
*This workshop has a maximum capacity of 6 people and will only proceed with a minimum of 3 participants. Please be aware that if not enough tickets are sold by the day before the workshop date I will need to reschedule your attendance.
Each Shanyn Linklater Jewellery piece is hand made to order in our Lakes Entrance smithy. As such, slight variances from product photographs may occur. We think it’s this uniqueness that makes our jewellery so special.
Manufacturing time is usually less than two weeks but may be longer during busy times.
If you would like your piece by a certain date, like a special occasion, let us know via the contact page and we will do our best to get your piece out to you in time.
